  1. Doug says:

Absolutely 100% correct on this one. I believe there is even a “lite” that is just as good but not quite the calories, for those who care.

  2. Trevor says:

I beg to differ. I believe this is the best flavor ever:

  3. Tim says:

    How to you pronounce “Caramel”?

Do you say “care-a-mill” or “car-mull”?

  4. Paul Mayne says:

Actually, dulce de leche (Plain Caramel http://www.haagendazs.com/products/product.aspx?id=73 ) is the best, and chocolate peanut butter is a close second (good call Trevor).

  5. Mike D. says:

Doug: Nice. I love that the first comment is from another disciple of the Cone.

Trevor and Paul: Those are both also great flavors, and I remember almost writing a post exactly like this when I first tried Dulce De Leche, but Caramel Cone is basically like Dulce De Leche… plus frickin’ waffle cones. A taste explosion.

    Tim: I pronounce it car-mull. I think it’s a regional thing.

  6. Chani says:

We miss out on it all here in Australia. In fact didn’t even know about Haagen Dazs until I read this post….I seem to be missing out

  7. Christian says:

You’re close, Mike, but their pineapple coconut is so good that after you’re done eating a bowl, you realize you’re actually sitting on a beach in the Caribbean.

  8. Perry says:

Dove Undeniably Chocolate. Nobody does ice cream like Dove. Makes HD seem like sweatshop ice cream.

  9. Doug says:

Anther great flavor that does’t seem to be on the site anymore was the Blueberry Cheesecake. Not as good as the Carmel Cone, but right up there.

  10. Mike says:

Perhaps I’m just weird, but I recently tried their Coffee Flavoured Ice Cream and the next thing I knew I had finished the whole thing within a minute. It was amazing! Who’d have thought that Coffee and Ice Cream would go so well. If someone were to mix chocolate, mint and coffee together into one flavour I’ll buy as much as I can.

  11. Omar says:

I totally agree with you Mike. :) Haagen Dazs is the best.

  12. katy Lavallee says:

you are all crazy. ben & jerry’s kicks haagen dazs ass! but, i can’t pick a favorite… currently it’s yellow cake batter.

  13. Coby says:

You guys have to try Baseball Nut – It is fantastic! Vanilla Bean Ice Cream with Cashews and a Raspberry swirl – Yum! Only out during baseball season. Best on one of those huge chocolate covered waffle cones.

  14. Carlos Manta Oliveira says:

You guys must be kidding… Have you never tried:

  15. Vanilla still trumps all other flavours in sales.

  16. Jemaleddin says:

Seriously? “Haagen Dazs” is fake euro-talk for “From New Jersey.” I can’t stand the stuff, but to each his own…

  17. Rian Murnen says:

And I was so sure you were going to say the best flavor of ice cream was Pine Bros. Cough Drop Crunch.

  18. morgan says:

i saw the picture before i read the headline, and wondered what you had to say about the best flavor of ice cream…

  19. Tim says:

Dude, try the coconut and pineapple flavor too. It is kinda hard to find but it is just as good.

  20. Seth says:

I see your caramel cone and raise you a Maui Mango Madness.

  21. I feel compelled to agree with you on this issue Mike. Hmmm, yummy.

  22. Sheldon McGee says:

Gotta try it. I had high hopes for Americone Dream but it was only okay.

    Sheldon

  23. Tom says:

Haagen Daz coffee is truly sublime. Ben & Jerry’s Coffee Heath Bar crunch is pretty tasty as well.

Also, I suggest you try Ben & Jerry’s Strawberry Cheesecake — the graham cracker crust in ice cream is tasty tasty.

  24. Ryan says:

I donno Mike, I’m going to have to side with Ben and Jerry’s Americone Dream. Not only is it vanilla with chocolate and waffle cone, but I also feel patriotic when I eat it. What other ice cream can do that?

    None of them, that’s right.

  25. Bolo Yueng says:

I’m sad, get off the couch bro and head down to the markets of ye’ ol city. Have you not tasted REAL ice cream before? It’s out there! Read about it in your towns newspaper, http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/food/366524_icecream11.html. Or if you’re too lazy to go down to the market, go to a whole foods and purchase Julies Chocolate Ice Cream. Then see if you don’t want to stand corrected.

  26. Mike D. says:

katy: Hmm, interesting. Yellow cake batter. Never heard of that. Will have to try.

Rian: Oh god, if there was a Pine Bros cough drop flavor, I would be all over it.

Bolo: Yep, fresh, local-made ice cream is great, but at least Haagen Dazs Caramel Cone is widely available across the country so more people can benefit from hearing about it (if they haven’t already). Great article though, thanks!

  27. Don says:

Actually it’s Hudsonville French Silk. Not any other french silk, HUDSONVILLE FRENCH SILK. Try some then tell me if you weren’t wrong. Just because their site it asp … don’t judge the ice cream by the page:

    http://www.hudsonvilleicecream.com/ice%20cream/3gal3.asp?icecreamID=31

    Another good one:
Chocolate Overdose — but then it isn’t ice cream so it might not be kosher to include it here, even though it is kosher

  28. Angry Tony says:

Yeah Americone Dream is very similar. I’ve had both, and it’s a tough call. Which came first?

  29. thomas says:

    cookies & cream ftw!

  30. Matt Robin says:

Sorry guys – I’ve got all those other suggestions beaten! :D

Mike, if you are ever in the UK, go to Cornwall in the Summer and have genuine Cornish Vanilla Ice Cream! It is not the vanilla that will win you over, no, it will be the distinctive triple-clotted Cornish cream they use to make it! This makes it the best ice-cream on the planet.

  31. Mike Stickel says:

Hell yeah it is!! Waaay better than Americone Dream. Quick bit of advice though, get the regular of this flavour, the “Light” version of Caramel Cone is terrible.

  32. Mike D. says:

Ok, I just tried Americone Dream. Not even close. Caramel Cone whoops it…

  33. John A. Davis says:

    Cherries Garcia

    hands down

  34. Sandeerella says:

Wel, I recognize that this is a great ice cream flavor, no doubt about that, and I thought it was the best until a better one came around, same brand….
and that is : “the hawaiian Lehua Honey and sweet cream ice cream

  35. Doug says:

Just found a new stand by. Grab a pint of the Haagen-dazs coconut sorbet and get some fresh raspberries. Combine and enjoy.

  36. justin gonzales says:

    my favorite is grape.

  37. Sebastian says:

may i know where to get this Häagen-Dazs caramel cone.

    http://www.nestle.ca/Haagen_Dazs/en/Products/Extras/caramel_cone_explosion.htm

    thks in advance.

  38. Dale says:

Coldstone Creamery has the best ice cream EVER (though I’m not sure if it’s available everywhere, if you ever come to AZ then you’ll know what the real stuff tastes like).

  39. Dale says:

    Any flavor is good.
