I&#8217;ve been trying to convince <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mezzoblue.com\" target=\"_blank\">Dave<\/a> to throw this thing in the summertime when it&#8217;s warm and gorgeous in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=Vansterdam\" target=\"_blank\">Vansterdam<\/a>, but since it&#8217;s a wintertime event, it doubles handily as a ski trip to Whistler. If you&#8217;ve never been to the Vancouver\/Whistler area of the world, you should consider going to this event.  Why?  Great speakers!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.themaninblue.com\" target=\"_blank\">Cameron Adams<\/a> &#8212; Super nice guy, and one of the best javascripters in the world.  Also, he&#8217;s the only guy I&#8217;ve ever met who looks Asian and sounds Australian. That is because he is both!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/johnfallsopp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">John Allsopp<\/a> &#8212; Legendary in his ability to appear non-geeky whilst discussing the geekiest of subjects.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/deltatangobravo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Daniel Burka<\/a> &#8212; Designer of Digg, purveyor of fine Web 2.0 style.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stuffandnonsense.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Andy Clarke<\/a> &#8212; The sixth Beatle.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dashes.com\/anil\" target=\"_blank\">Anil Dash<\/a> &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dashes.com\/anil\/2007\/10\/mainstream-media-is-really-hard.html\" target=\"_blank\">Thinks he&#8217;s never met me<\/a>, but actually has.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wpdfd.com\/profiles\/kimberlyelam\/\" target=\"_blank\">Kimberly Elam<\/a> &#8212; Hooray for females at web conferences! Kimberly is a great author and designer. <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/blueflavor.com\/pages\/about\/bios\/brian_fling\/\" target=\"_blank\">Brian Fling<\/a> &#8212; Mobile design expert from BlueFlavor, and friend of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsvine.com\" target=\"_blank\">Vine<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/boxofchocolates.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Derek Featherstone<\/a> &#8212; Legendary for his <a href=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\/photos\/digitalweb\/6741995\/\" target=\"_blank\">ability to hold a beer glass to his lips<\/a> using only <a href=\"http:\/\/flickr.com\/photos\/glutnix\/47989777\/\" target=\"_blank\">facial suction<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.horsepigcow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Tara Hunt<\/a> &#8212; Hooray for even more females at web conferences!<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brianoberkirch.com\" target=\"_blank\">Brian Oberkirch<\/a> &#8212; I met Brian once in New York.  He knows his social media.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mezzoblue.com\" target=\"_blank\">Dave Shea<\/a> &#8212; Did some sort of Zen Garden thing once.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.snook.ca\" target=\"_blank\">Jonathan Snook<\/a> &#8212; Canada&#8217;s native son scripting expert.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.firewheeldesign.com\" target=\"_blank\">Josh Williams<\/a> &#8212; The Billy Bob Thornton of the web design\/dev world (he knows what I mean&#8230; it&#8217;s a huge compliment).<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.zeldman.com\" target=\"_blank\">Jeffrey Zeldman<\/a> &#8212; The all-knowing, all-powerful, all-humble one.  He is our yoda.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A trip to Web Directions North is also a great excuse to renew your passport, if it has expired.
