I love to see this kind of attention to details… a good lesson that we should always make design compromises for content, rather than compromising content for the sake of the design… it’s not all about good looks and pretty fonts.

Interesting your comment that craigslist.org still uses the “unsophisticated” blue. More correctly, your user agent uses that blue. Craigslist stylesheet specifies no color for the link text, leaving it to the browser’s settings.

So, depending on one’s browser and whether or not one has changed settings, it may or may not be blue.

After 2 weeks, I still can not get the new site to display correctly on my laptop. The “Explore Bar” does nothing. All links on it only reset the page to the top. None of the categories ( Local News, Business, Health, Travel, etc) display. Only the top of the page with the headlines. Only luck I’ve had is disabling JavaScript on my browser and then I get partial pages but other sites don’t work correctly. Anybody else having similar problems?

Loved the site when I first saw it a few months ago, and I’m still keen on it, though I had hoped the story pages would have been a bit more of a departure from the previous iteration.

And Ashley is perhaps the strongest proponent of the grid I’ve seen this side of Khoi Vinh’s office…

The tooltips could be improved! For example, right now my local news section has a link
“Bonds Faces 30 Years For Fed…”
when I hover the mouse over the link I get a tooltip saying
“Bonds Faces 30 Years For Fed…”
couldn’t it be the full headline??
“Bonds Faces 30 Years For Federal Charges”

Personally, I think it looks awful. Way too much whitespace and a non-intuitve layout.
